With the RPM from Johnny Billquist's server, the install of Kermit
fails with:

INS -- Common block not loaded DAPRES

The good news is that I got networking up and teco installed, so
life is good! With FTP available, the lack of Kermit isn't that
big a deal.

The reason for that is because you need some shared RMS libraries
installed first, including DAPRES. That one is included in your system
(or should be at least), but you need to uncomment the line in
[1,2]STARTUP.CMD to get it automatically installed.

Ah, it's not commented out, but under a conditional for DECnet
(which I don't use). I'll try enable it unconditionally, but I'd
rather do without than hassle with turning on an otherwise unneeded
networking facility.

(BTW, it's great to see you back on Usenet!)

It would also be possible to build a version of KERMIT-11 without the
remote filename specification capabilities, which would remove the DAP
dependency.

We'll see how long I survive. :-)
